HOME: Being prepared
Smoke detectors provide an early warning of fires and smoke in many homes across Kentucky.
You can purchase a smoke detector from your local store, gas station, or city hall.
Please ensure the smoke detector is turned on after installation. If you are unsure how to install one, ask a firefighter or request an installation manual from the seller.
TRAFFIC: Being prepared
One of the most important aspects of staying safe is taking steps to reduce damage in the event of an accident. The MCoVFD is selling the displayed items for a total of $30.
These items include a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit with enough supplies to assist at least two people, and a roadside warning triangle.
Important: Place the roadside triangle at least 50 meters away from the accident. If it is too close, it can be dangerous.
TRAFFIC: Prevention
In traffic, please ensure you stay within the speed limit and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. If you notice something wrong with your vehicle, pull over in a safe place and contact roadside services or 911.
Also, deploy your roadside triangle. If you think you can fix the issue yourself, do so only after securing the scene, and make sure to wear a high-visibility vest.
COMMERCIAL: Regulations
It is of high importance to follow regulations for commercial buildings, including limits on the number of people on each floor and the use of correct fire suppression systems.
Legal action may follow in the event of regulatory violations.
